For many people it is difficult and uncomfortable to think about estate manners. It is our job to look at your circumstances and to advise you regarding what decisions need to be made and to carefully guide you through every step of the process.
An "estate" includes all real and personal property. A fully completed estate plan includes more than just a simple will. It includes an overall review of your estate, your individual circumstances, and the drafting of documents that direct how your property is to be distributed after your death, and giving others authority to act on your behalf to make financial decisions and health care decisions when you are unable to do so yourself.
Some people decide to set up a Revocable Living Trust ("RLT") instead of a Will. An RLT can preclude the need for probate, and can be an important vehicle for managing your estate if you become incapacitated. This is a type of trust that is created during your lifetime and all of your assets are in the trust while you are alive. Sometimes an RLT can help you to reduce estate taxes if you have a taxable estate.
In addition to helping you with a Will or Revocable Living Trust, we can prepare a number of other documents to achieve your goals. It is important to create powers of attorney that gives others permission to make decisions on your behalf if you become incapacitated and unable to handle your own financial affairs.
It is never too late to begin the estate planning process.
